About

Hi. I'm Jenn.

Jenn Ballentine Highland Nonprofit Consulting

I began my career as a Youth HIV/STI Health Educator at the Maricopa County Department of Public Health in Phoenix, Arizona.

Working out of a trailer attached to the Public Health Department, I single-handedly developed, delivered and evaluated a six-session HIV/STI/pregnancy prevention program for at-risk youth.

It was an eye-opening experience to say the least. I wanted so badly to connect with these teens and help them understand the importance of protecting themselves. Additionally, I wanted to know that the program I was delivering was making an impact and changing their knowledge, attitudes and behaviors.

I realized that I wanted and needed a deeper understanding of how best to implement and evaluate programs. I sought and obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and took a position with the Division of Reproductive Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention upon graduation. There I gained extensive knowledge of effective programs and developed a love of working with data to assess program impact and guide strategy development.

In 2009, I founded Highland Nonprofit Consulting to partner with nonprofits and Foundations in building their capacity to develop data-driven strategies and effectively measure and communicate their impact. Since then, I have worked with numerous nonprofits and Foundations to help create a culture of learning, better understand and apply principles of impact measurement and create powerful stories that illuminate successes and inform decision-making.

Highland Nonprofit Consulting provides program evaluation consulting services, evaluation coaching and training and data visualization and reporting.
